Sunday Snippets 1/30/2011

Sunday Snippets time again! Thanks as always to RAnn for diligently hosting! I just have two post this week. A short one. Would love to know what you all think of this one!

Coincidence?

My husband has been reading Man of Hope which is a biography on St. Padre Pio. I've been meaning to do a blog post on him because he is one of those very unique Saints from our more modern times who had probably about every charism of the Holy Spirit than perhaps any other Saint. He said before he died that he would be even more powerful after his earthly existence and it seems he is right as those who ask for his intercession will attest to that.
So, naturally, my husband has been fascinated with him and just dumbfounded at all the miracles that happened around St. Pio when he was alive on earth. Last night my husband had to re-programed the CD player because our daughter keeps messing with it . We have a white noise CD, (got addicted to white noise from all the times of trying to get our children to sleep...) We now have to have it playing over and over again throughout the night. He was trying to get the repetition on a certain track right. He used to have it on 13 and decided that was too long. The next time he had to reprogram it, he tried 11 and that was too long also. So, this time, he decided to program it to 10. Then he moved on to give our son a bath. He was thinking about St. Pio and how he found Padre Pio's statue at the Church where my husband spent time in adoration that night.   He went back into the bedroom to get something and mid thought while thinking of St. Pio he looked up and noticed what was on the CD player. Coincidence?

Artificial Birth Control: More problems than solutions.

During the years of  being a practicing Catholic, I've gone back and forth on the birth control issue. There were times when we cheated and used condoms. After my son was born in 2009 I wasn't going to take any chances of getting pregnant again and my husband and I resumed the use of latex. As I waited for aunt Flo to arrive, I would start to panic and worry that the condom didn't work and I'd be pregnant again and deal with all the emotions that come a long with an unplanned pregnancy. I thought to myself how using this artificial method of birth control was not putting me at ease like I thought it should. We had also contemplated getting my husband "fixed."  We did this knowing full well the Church's teaching on artificial birth control. But we came across so many Catholics that chucked that teaching right out the window. So why not us?  cont'd
